Technical Fubars before the Glen

After One Lap, I figured getting prepared to cover some video and photos and updates from the Glen should be pretty easy.  I have everything in one spot have actual AC power the whole time, and might actually get to that video uploading that I envisioned before.

iphone-destroyed-8478Then I killed my iPhone.  I was working on the car, specifically the brakes (which I will bitch more about later), and had a call from Tim.  I put the phone on the car, went back to work, and I think you know what happened next.  Sure enough I went for some brake bedding tests around the block with the iPhone still on the car.   Of course I didn’t realize any of this until I couldn’t find the phone and retraced my actions. While I spent time riding around the block on my bike, remembering how out of shape I am, Tim figured out my dilemma and headed south towards the lodge.

Not being able to update everybody from the iPhone killed my hopes of actually updating anything.  I couldn’t connect up with some of the friends on Twitter, and my continuous stream of mildly OK photos would have to fail.

The other thing I have been practicing is the balance of how to use the GoPro camera.   I have been recording some commutes to watkins-glen-pca-may09-8753work, just to work out the kinks of operating the device.  I cursed this camera on the One Lap trip, only because when ever I needed it to work it didn’t.  Now I find that the latch on the to of the camera is cracked and is headed towards breaking.  I guess I won’t make it a bumper camera for fear of having it break while out on the track.
