TimmySpec Rear Control Arms

TimmySpec Rear Control Arms

I did mention a lot has happened since the end of the 2011 event.

Getting ready to go on One Lap 2011, we found ourselves scrambling and coming up empty handed for a set of rear adjustable control arms for the Evo X.  When we really couldn’t find any, Tim went to work to make some.  With an array of bushings, bolts, and swaged tubing Tim put together some pretty decent control arms for a one week project to get us on the road.

Something must have ignited a spark of innovation inside of Tim. Maybe it was the flashbacks of when we broke a control arm in 2009 while on the road.  While the car was in Toronto being recovered, Tim was busy designing what might be the ultimate rear control arms available for the Evo X.  These things are as close to indestructible and perfect as you can get.  They have heat treated chromoly rod ends with a Teflon liner.   The beefy center link is T6061 anodized aluminum.   He also has some custom T6061 bushings made specifically for the Evo X fitment.

It took at least 3 minutes from the time the car came back to Rochester before Tim was underneath it installing his updated rear control arms this summer.  These things are nothing short of awesome from a usability perspective.  They have a flat spot to get a wrench on and a knurled end to grab for hand adjustment.  It was almost as if it was designed from a guy who has taken a road trip around the country in the most abusive conditions and had to make adjustments in a parking lot.

Where can you get them?  Well, if you are in Rochester, you can probably contact Tim directly, or visit the TimmySpec Facebook Page.

Some of the top vendors have picked up the line already, and I am sure they will hit a few more shelves.

Of course TimmySpec is on the car for this year and you will see them on Chris’s new Evo X.
