Press Release: Forced Performance sponsors RochesterDSM One Lap of America team

The RochesterDSM One Lap of America team is proud to announce that Forced Performance has signed on to sponsor the One Lap VR4 in this years race and has sent us one of there super bad FP HTA DSM76 Ball Bearing Turbochargers

One of the most popular of the Garrett Ballistic Concepts Turbochargers has been the GT3076R. This mid-sized roughly 52 lb/min flow rate turbo is widely used in 2.0 – 2.7 litre applications seeking a 400-500whp output level with minimal turbo lag. We used the FP version of this turbo in 2009 and 2010. It was called the FP3052 turbo and it was good for 400 WHP at only 29psi of boost. In race mode it made 385whp at 27psi of boost.

The only thing that could make this turbo any better would be a better compressor wheel that delivers decreased spool time and increased max output, and we have just that, the HTA™ wheel aero in our new FP HTA™ DSM76. Scaled down to 76mm exducer and 54.8mm inducer this aero flows over 59lb/min without dropping efficiency, and works well to sustain boost pressures above 40psi as needed without compromise. For One Lap there is no way we are running 40psi of boost. The goal is to stay under 30psi and get as close to 450whp as we can get. With the new 2.3L engine we should hit that goal without any problems and the lighter and smaller wheel, combined with the increased engine displacement, should yield quicker spool and faster boost recovery.

on the engine side

This version is the same as the standard FP HTA™ GT3076R turbocharger, however this one utilizes our FP30 style turbine housing for direct DSM bolt on application. If there is one thing we’ve learned during our 4 years of doing One Lap its that you have to be rock solid reliable and the “bolt on” nature of this turbo is just that. Combined with the FP exhaust manifold, factory mounting hardware, and Tial wastegate the turbocharger is one area of the build that we can rest assured is in good hands.
