Tim Harper

One Lap of America Team Driver 2009, 2010, 2011

Tim Harper was born in Rochester New York in April of 1968. Ever since then he’s been taking things apart and only recently has he mastered the art of putting them back together. Necessity turned him into a great mechanic with a flare for building his own parts. Tim is an instructor for both the Finger Lakes SCCA and PCA high speed driver’s education (HPDE) at Watkins Glen. He graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS in Polymer Chemistry and is employed as an Electron Microscopist at Xerox Corporation.

Tim purchased his first DSM at age 30 because he wanted a platform to build upon that had a lot of vendor support. Actually, he almost bought a mustang and boy is he glad he made the right choice. He’s been working on that 1992 Eclipse GSX ever since and starting with 16g turbos, starion FMIC, water injection (before anybody knew what that was), dime store fuel cut defensors and any other little trick he could get his hands on he kept pushing that car to go faster and faster. After destroying more transmissions then he could afford while just getting into the 11′s he decided to concentrate on making the car handle like a race car. Today he pilots that same GSX chasing down GT3′s and ZO6′s at Watkins Glen.

Tim resides in Penfield NY with wife Ariane and his daughter Gabrielle and he enjoys fabricating his own parts in the garage, travel to Europe, playing guitar, and raising the smartest kid on the planet.
