The Rochester DSM One Lap team is always looking for additional sponsors to help us offset the costs of this trip. With a worldwide audience, the One Lap of America, offers a unique opportunity to get your company name or your brand spread across America. The race itself gains a lot of attention and our team gains a lot of attention.
In 2009 we started live blogging about our experience around the country. While One Lap of America has never been an easy event to watch as a spectator, we were able to leverage mobile technologies not available in the past to give people an inside look at what was happening. By updating our blog with videos, pictures and stories from the road we were able to take a once media isolated event and bring it online. The result was more than we could have ever predicted. In 2009 in that one week we had over 15K visitors go through the website to watch. In 2010 we doubled that number.
We were also able to bring something new to the sport it hadn’t seen before, fans who showed up to the track. Track after track and state after state, we had a loyal following of fans around the country, come out to see the car and the event we were so passionate about sharing.
By capturing both the online community, along with local exposure to 8 different regions of the country, we have perhaps the most agressive yet affective marketing opportunity available.
The trip itself will take over 3000 miles across the heart of America, through 8 premier race tracks.
