Galant VR4 History
The Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 was a limited edition automobile, marking the 6th generation of the Mitsubishi Galant model itself. Originally introduced to comply with the new Group A regulations of the World Rally Championship, Mitsubishi sold the car itself in many markets in order to reach the mandatory 5,000 units to meet the minimum sales requirements. 3000 vehicles arrived in the United States with 2000 in 1991 and another 1000 in 1992, adorned with Limited Edition plaques marking their uniqueness.
Mitsubishi, carried the VR-4′s engine/transmission over to the new Lancer Evolution, bringing to an end the Galant’s representation in Mitsubishi Motors Corporation motorsport efforts.
